Croft Walling
To complement both contemporary and traditional styles of home and garden, this easy-build walling is a quick and fl exible solution, ideal for DIYers. Designed for building retaining walls up to 6 courses (bricks) high only, no mortar is required and it takes a fraction of the time. It doesn't need concrete footings as the retained earth on the back face stabilises the construction.

Stage 1
Dig a trench to the depth of full block plus 150mm for foundation material. Width should be minimum 2 times the wall thickness (foundation material should extend 85mm to the front and rear of first course block).
Stage 2
Place material (MOT Type 1 or similar)
onto trench and compact. Spread sand over foundation material. This will make it easier to level the first course block.
Stage 3
Position first course blocks side by side to required line, level block in both directions.

Each course must be backfilled accordingly. The backfill zone consists of 300mm of free draining material followed by backfill material. The backfill zone should be at least equal to the wall height.
