First Words
Writing these comment pieces ahead of an international event, such as ISPO, is always a minefield.
The hope is you will all have read this prior to the doors to the show opening, but there’s always the slim chance we won’t reach you in time. Then, of course, there are those of you who will read this at the end of the month anyway.
So, in my view ISPO will be/was a great show. It will be/was a great opportunity to meet many of the key names in the trade, learn more about many of the leading brands and put some faces to names I have gotten to know over the last three months.
I find trade shows are always a great opportunity to immerse yourself in your chosen industry, whether it be outdoor, ski or performance. ISPO will be/was no different for me. With so much to learn, and much of it needed to be learnt yesterday, ISPO is/was a great opportunity to sink my teeth first hand into the outdoor trade’s various different categories and products.
I hope I will have/had the opportunity to see as many of you as possible at the show. Look out for our review next month if you can’t make it, as I’m sure there’ll be plenty of stories to tell from the floor.
I also hope you’re enjoying the new look we’ve introduced to SGB Outdoor over this issue and last. With a new colour scheme, designed to reflect the earthy tones associated with the outdoor industry, and the editorial split into ‘Industry’ and ‘Products’ sections, so you can find the information you’re looking for more easily, we’re working to make SGB Outdoor as relevant to all you outdoor retailers and enthusiasts as much as the brands themselves.
We want this magazine to be a useful vehicle for all of the industry, and so I welcome comments and suggestions from all of you. Please don’t hesitate to get in contact.
