great pride in sharing their island with a large number of loggerhead sea turtles, providing a sanctuary for the endangered species. Te turtles nest on the island, and their human neigh- bors go to great lengths to protect the nests and the hatchlings until they are old enough to fend for themselves. Tough Holden Beach may be secluded and without many of the trappings of the outside world, there is still plenty to do. Te island offers a fishing pier, marina and boat land- ing, and some of the world’s finest golf courses are a short drive away in Myrtle Beach.
