In 2008 REPs member Katie De-Mouilpied was chosen by Technogym – official supplier of equipment at the Beijing Olympics – to be part of an international team of 60 trainers at the gym used by competitors.
REPs is now in discussions with Technogym, who will be supplying fitness equipment for the London 2012 games, about ways its members can be involved next year by helping at the Olympic village gyms.
REPs Registrar Jean-Ann Marnoch said: “This could be a once in a lifetime opportunity to support the British competitors on their home patch and I hope REPs can be a part of that.”

Council charges – have your say
The news that Hammersmith and Fulham Council has started to charge Personal Trainers who use its parks and open spaces to train clients has caused disbelief and outrage amongst REPs members.
Other councils have since introduced charges – sometimes more than £1,000 a year – and REPs members have been voicing their concerns over these charges. REPs Chairman, former MP and Shadow Minister for Sport, John Greenway has requested a meeting with Sports Minister Hugh Roberston to raise the issues facing PTs who are being charged to use parks and public spaces by councils. Before this meeting we would like to hear more from members, around the country, who have first hand experience of such charges and the impact they have.

More than 140 delegates took part in the REPs Scottish Convention, in Glasgow in June – a record number for both members and non- members in Scotland.
The convention included a series of interactive and practical workshops and a key note presentation from Ben Pratt, of Premier Training. Ashleigh Oates from the Physical and Health Alliance (PAHA) also provided an update on the health agenda.
