REPS NEWS Changes to registration categories
Following the recent review and rationalisation of REPs categories, the SkillsActive and REPs Technical Expert Group (TEG) has decided to remove several categories from member profiles.
From April 1st 2012 the following categories will no longer feature on members’ listings on the REPs Register
Bookings are already being taken for 2012 REPs conventions which start with the Welsh convention on Wednesday February 8th in Cardiff. This will be followed by the South East convention planned for Thursday May 10th, the Scottish convention in June, and a new bumper National convention to coincide with LIW in late September.

News just in – Working in Fitness 2011 Headline findings from the 8th Working in Fitness Survey show that: l Average levels of pay have remained stagnant since last year l Nearly half of all respondents are self-employed/freelance l Men are more likely to work in a full-time permanent position (40%) as opposed to the 20 % of women who work full-time
l 88% of those taking part said they had attended some kind of training in the last year
l Respondents in England are more likely to pay for their own training than those living in Wales or Scotland

Pauline Ward explains: “These categories are no longer part of the REPs entry structure and haven’t been for some considerable time. Some of these old categories are now CPD units only, and CPD is not listed on the REPs card and profile. The new activepassport that all REPs members will have, will enable them to list all their CPD achievements.
“In order to create a level playing field TEG decided that these old categories should be removed from REPs member cards to ensure that employers and the public have clarity on the skills and expertise of REPs members”.

Fee increase
As from April 1st 2012 the annual registration fee for REPs members will be £29, an increase of £2 per year. REPs Registar Jean-Ann Marnoch said: “This rise will help meet the significant costs of running the Register.
