Reading4Pleasure (OD/68)


A one-day conference at NUT HQ, London, in partnership with the Campaign for the Book, Just Read and the National Literacy Association.


Speakers will include Bernard Ashley, Malorie Blackman, Christine Blower, Deborah Bullivant, Wendy Cooling, Alan Gibbons and Michael Rosen.





For teachers, school librarians, support staff with responsibility for literacy or the school library, head teachers and governors.


• Inspire/promote good practice in encouraging reading for pleasure, enhancing pupils’ learning and wellbeing.


• Highlight reading for pleasure as an essential part of the broader reading curriculum.


• Explore the role of teachers and others in ‘choice, emotion and opinion’, all central to reading for pleasure.


Cost: FREE to NUT members in the North, North West, Yorkshire/Midlands and South West regions and Wales, £25 to NUT members in the Midlands, South East and Eastern regions), £50 to NUT members in London, £75 to others.

Behaviour CPD






Leading behaviour improvement (tt/75)


For head teachers, deputies/assistants and all leadership group, especially those with pastoral and behaviour responsibilities.

For teachers completing or who have recently completed Graduate or Registered Teacher Training or other employment-based routes to qualification.

NQTs - Getting behaviour right (TF/82)


 For teachers in their induction year during 2010/11

Internationalising learning - on the global stage


FREE CPD helping pairs of teachers and schools to:


• Teach about international issues


• Embed the global dimension in the curriculum


• Enrich teaching and learning


• Gain international status in England and Wales.


These courses are for primary and secondary teachers


Wrexham: 8/9 March, follow-up 21/22 June (T2T/49)


Exeter: 15/16 March, follow-up 28/29 June (T2T/50)


FREE. Includes meals, refreshments, accommodation. Travel costs can be reclaimed. Schools can recoup the cost of one-day teacher supply cover per participant. Funded by Department for International Development.
