We looked out on our incredibly beautiful white, sugary sand beach with emerald green waters and saw very few people enjoying the splendor. Fly v. drive Right now would be a perfect time for AAA to start pushing “take the high road” type of advertising campaign because of the big wave of people choosing to drive vs. fl y because of the naked body scanner and invasive pat-downs with air- ports. I know four people who just canceled their fl ights and are driv- ing to Las Vegas in protest. If you advertised membership to AAA now and mentioned how fun it is to drive to a destination, you would pick up some new members. –J. Brogan, Evergreen


No natural silence There is no true natural silence in Rocky Mountain, Great Sand Dunes, Mesa Verde, and Black Canyon parks due to the constant air traffi c. These are transcontinen- tal fl ights at 35,000 to 40,000 feet whose thunder is clearly audible on the ground. Natural sounds are subtle and easily drowned out. Once enough concerned folks

We have suffered severely from the publishing of information by vari- ous media portraying our area as devastated with oil. We lost approxi- mately 50% of our tourism due to this misreporting of information. The Fort Walton Beach and Des- tin area have had little to no oil on our beaches. There were a couple of “hours one day” in June when a few
