WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS

Looking for Wi-Fi powerful enough to replace wired with wireless?

T

he Xirrus Wi-Fi Array architecture is different from traditional access points controlled by central controllers in two primary ways:

First, building on the best practices of cellular networks, the Xirrus Wi-Fi Arrays contain 4 and 24 802.11abgn radios along with a high gain, sectored directional antenna system delivering far more coverage, bandwidth, and user density than typical omni-directional APs, while using fewer devices, cable runs, and switch ports.

Second, building on the best practices of switched ethernet, Xirrus Wi-Fi Arrays ship with an embedded controller, firewall, threat sensor, and line rate encryption engine delivering far more controller power per radio, line-rate encryption, fewer bottlenecks, and greater resiliency because of multiple distributed entry points to your backbone – all while having the ability to centrally manage the entire network.

Test after test shows our architecture out performs the competition because it allows for maximum channel use, which means less interference for greater overall performance.

Xirrus Wi-Fi Array system was deployed across the RJAH NHS facilities to provide patient information, prescription services, e-Mail, web browsing and guest access today with the capability of supporting VoWi- Fi, RFID tracking, and wireless CCTV in the near future.

Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust improves patient care and staff efficiencies

LWH NHS deployed Xirrus’ Wi-Fi Arrays throughout the hospital campus for doctors, nurses and other staff members to use laptop computer carts to deliver a host of applications, such as electronic prescription application, a ‘single’ user sign- on scheme to increase staff efficiency along with a host of other applications running on tablet PCs and voice over Wi-Fi handsets.

“Xirrus provides a Wi-Fi infrastructure that goes beyond a sea of access points and controllers, one that is capable of providing the wireless foundation for a wide range of medical applications that will enable us to truly mobilize our staff to improve patient care,” said Dr. Zafar Chaudry, director of information management and technology, Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust. “Selecting Xirrus has put our minds at ease knowing that we’ve picked the best technology, while also continuously receiving great support and customer care.”

“We selected Xirrus to give us the desired RF control and to drastically increase the amount of wireless bandwidth distributed among our staff,” said Richard Jones, IT systems support engineer at RJAH NHS. “Unlike other vendors, Xirrus designed their products to include multiple radios with directional antennas, thereby increasing the RF range and shaping capabilities, making it far easier and more cost efficient to deploy, manage, and maintain a wireless network. With Xirrus, we have the performance to roll out patient information and prescription drug services throughout the hospital.”

Why Do Xirrus Win? • Performance – unmatched performance on a per access point & system-wide basis. • Economics – fewer access points, switch ports, cable runs with less effort to install & maintain. • Time to value – risk free guarantee and implementation that takes 3X faster than any competitor.
