The Hawks is a Division I junior college team and a member of the Florida Community College Activities Association, Suncoast Conference, Southern Conference and Region VIII of the National Junior College Athletic Association. HCC’s outdoor sports complex, an innovative joint project between HCC, the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County, is located on the Dale Mabry Campus. All HCC athletic events are free to the public.

George M. Steinbrenner Field is a state‑of‑the‑art training facility in Major League Baseball. The 31 acre facility is the spring training home of the New York Yankees, the Florida State League Tampa Yankees (New York Yankees‑Florida State League Single “A” Affiliate) and the Hillsborough Community College Hawks baseball team. George M. Steinbrenner& Field consists of two major league practice fields, and the 10,000 seat George M. Steinbrenner Field, complete with 13 plush luxury suites.

The USF Bulls play in the Big East, one of the most respected conferences in college athletics.
