his holiday season, a small but lively group has put together their talents to help raise money for the
Head Start Art and Music Fund. Their mission: To pro- vide fi nancial support for a program that inspires young minds to explore the power and freedom found through the expression of the arts. The Art and Music Fund provides enriching experi- ences to the ready minds at Head Start. The programs introduce children not only to various creative media, but also to the artists who make the magic happen. These artists are there to guide the students, and include such diverse experiences as tile art, concert harp, and professional opera. Nothing inspires like the presence of talent at this caliber. This fi rst annual musical fundraising event is a must-attend. Enjoy Classic and

Caring & Sharing is a nonprofi t organization comprised completely of volunteers, depending on the generosity of the community to achieve the goals
of the organization. In existence for over 30 years, Caring & Sharing has seen its enrolled families double in just the last ten years. Almost every denomination of churches in the area supports Caring & Shar-
ing’s efforts, as well as each of the schools in Navarre and Gulf Breeze, and several will be holding community food drives. Businesses, civic groups, and organiza- tions show tremendous support. Help is still needed, however. Caring & Sharing is in need of non-perishable food items for the boxes, new clothing and toys for the children, and fi nancial donations with which gift cards will be purchased for the families to use for perishable food items such as meat, cheese, and milk. Drop off locations are Navarre Library, Century 21 in Navarre, and Navarre Living Yoga Health Center. Volunteers are also needed to help sort food and pack the boxes on Saturday, December 18, at 10am at Oriole Beach Elementary School in Gulf Breeze. Christmas distribution, itself, will be held at the school. More information or additional drop off locations can be found at santarosac-
ares.org or call 850-939-0727.

Let It Shine by Scott Kennedy
The fi gurative art of Scott Kennedy cel- ebrates both the wonders of the outdoor world and the joys of home, offering visual stimuli that inspire truth, reality and hope. His dynamic brush strokes and meticulous details capture timeless, transformative moments. Kennedy’s frequent childhood camp- ing trips with his father instilled a rever- ence for the outdoors, while lessons with his artist mother taught him line, color and perspective. He majored in art at Colorado State University and then drew upon his whitewater rafting and other wilderness experiences to paint wild places and the creatures that inhabit them, including people who respect nature. Kennedy gradually transitioned
from watercolors to acrylics in order to widely share the joys of camping, hiking, dog sledding, fi shing and family. “Acrylic colors can be layered so that they remind me of stained glass,” he ex- plains, “inspiring me to paint images that are more intimate, as well as majestic.” Let It Shine is rich in Biblical symbolism. “My work is not necessar- ily done in terms of ‘religious’ imagery,” remarks Kennedy, “but in a way that is refl ective of a Christ-centered world view where there exists… the hope of a renewed and perfectly restored nature.”
