Attractions
With a diverse range of attractions in and around the city, it’s not surprising that York is such a popular visitor destination.
Historians will marvel at York’s wonderfully restored townhouses. Fairfax House boasts an outstanding collection of Georgian furniture and silver, whilst the timber framed Barley Hall is believed to be home to the only horn window in England. Art and craft lovers will enjoy the Quilt Museum, the only museum in Europe dedicated to quilting and textile arts.
There’s plenty to entertain those who like to get a little more ‘hands on’. Unearth the city’s past with some interactive archaeology at DIG – An Archaeological Adventure, find out if you have what it takes to be a pilot by riding the flight simulator at the Allied Air Forces Memorial Museum or try your hands as a racing driver at the F1 race track.
