‘Rae’ Thomas LIBRARIAN Ramola M. “Rae” Thomas, 83,


who served for decades as head librarian at Forestville Baptist Church, died Oct. 14 at a hospital in Alva, Okla., of aspiration pneu- monia. Mrs. Thomas was a volunteer


at Forestville Baptist, working with Southern Baptist Youth and helping military couples who at- tended the church settle into the Washington area. She became a librarian at the church in the 1960s and rose to become head librarian in the mid-1970s. Upon her retirement in 2002,


she moved to Alva to be closer to family. Ramola Marilyn Merington


was born in Shawnee, Okla. She graduated in 1948 from the Uni- versity of Oklahoma, where she met her future husband, Vernley Fred Thomas. The couple married in 1948


and moved frequently for his Army career. After his death from cancer in 1958, Mrs. Thomas set- tled in Forestville and went back to school to receive a master’s degree in library science from the University ofMaryland. She worked for H&R Block


during tax season for many years. Survivors include three sons,

David T. Bryant


ARMY COLONEL, LAWYER David T. Bryant, 85, a retired


Army colonel who served in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps and later became a lawyer for the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation in Spring- field, died Sept. 27 at the Fairfax retirement community at Fort Belvoir. He had congestive heart failure. Col. Bryant joined the founda-


tion in 1977 as a staff lawyer. He attended George Washington University while there, receiving a master’s degree in labor law in 1980. He retired in 1992. DavidThompsonBryant was a


native of Sherman, Tex., and a 1946 graduate of theU.S.Military Academy atWest Point,N.Y. After five years in the infantry,


he graduated in 1954 from Har- vard Law School and joined the JAG Corps. He was also a gradu- ate of the Army Command and General Staff College and the Army War College. He retired in 1972. He moved to Fort Belvoir from


Alexandria in 2002. His son, David T. Bryant Jr.,


died in 2008. Survivors include his wife of


63 years, Nancy Sisson Bryant of Fort Belvoir; two daughters, Jane Forsythe ofFulton,Mo.,andAnne Bryant of Manassas; four grand- children; and five great-grand- children.

Jeannette Dieman, 57, died of complications of epilepsy on Friday,October 29, 2010 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, MD. She was born June 3, 1953, in Washington, D.C., to Milton Allan and Gloria Gregerson Barlow. She was a1971 graduate of Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, MD, and majored in Education at Brigham Young University.

She was amember of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the genealogy library of the Seneca Stake. She married John Dieman in the Washington, D.C., LDS Temple in 1996. Her previous marriage ended in divorce.


Jeannette was known and loved for her gen- erosity of spirit and her optimistic outlook despite many years of health challenges. She was an inspirational speaker and counselor to other sufferers of epilepsy.She and her husband supported and volunteered at Camp Great Rock for children and teens with epilepsy,anenviron- ment designed to help them overcome feelings of social stigma and isolation often associated with their condition.


She is survived by her husband, John Dieman, of Darnestown, MD, her sons, Eric Frederickson of Lowell, IN, and Steven Frederickson of Seattle, WA,and one grandson, Joshua Frederickson of Lowell. She is also survived by six brothers and sisters, Allan Barlow of Washington, D.C.; Greg Barlow of Caliente, NV;Alice Jones of Potomac, MD; Kathleen Barlow of New Canaan, CT;Nancy Barlow of Salt Lake City; and Gloria Bowman of Toronto.

Judge Isadore A. Honig passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday,October 29, 2010. He is survived by his only son, Douglas Honig of Seattle,WAand his brother Nate of Cincinnati, OH. After growing up in Port Jervis,NYhewon ascholarship to Cornell and then earned alaw degree from the University of Michigan. Shortly after marrying Pearl Rudner of Philadelphia, PA he went into the Army for WWII serving in Algeria and Italy.Hethen embarked on alengthy legal career in Washington, D.C. Capped by 15 years as an Administrative Law Judge with the FCC.Following Pearls death in 1968 he married Lillian Ellman of New York, who predeceased him. He was active in Congregation Har Tzeon and is remembered fondly for his gentle spirit and sense of humor. He was able to remain in his home in Silver Spring till the end. Delegation to the Paris Peace Conference in May 1947 at Versailles (France). Later,hewas promoted to Colonel in the Air Force Staff Intelligence.


Predominantly,his career was with the U.S. Depart. of State as aSen. Foreign Service Officer based in Washington, D.C. In 1950’s, he was the Secretary of the U.S. Delegation at the 5th Assembly of the World Health Organization in Geneva. He served as U.S. delegate for the 9th and 10th Conferences of the F.A.O. and as 2nd Secretary and Economic Officer to the U.S. Embassy in Rome.


In the mid-1960’sheserved as Consul and First Secretary of Economic Affairs to the U.S. Consulate in Hong Kong wherehepromoted many trade programs throughout Asia. His extensive global travels for his career included, The Far East – Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Korea, the Philippines and Macao. In Europe, his career took him to the UK, France, Italy,Austria, Germany,Portugal, Switzerland and Belgium and in the Middle East, to Lebanon and Turkey.


He enjoyed traveling, football, tennis and golf. He and his wife wereavid bridge players and members of Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, VA and the Diplomatic and Counselor Officer Retired Club in Washington, DC. He was adevoted husband, father and areal Patriot. He is survived by his brother,William ISohl and by his children, Raymond Sohl, his wife, Christine Sohl of Winchester,VA; Natalie Feldstein, her husband, Jeffrey Feldstein of Richmond, VA;Marilyn Sohl Daniel, her husband, Gabi Daniel of Herndon, VA and by his six grand- children, Nancy Sohl, Max Sohl, Victor Feldstein, Deanna Labriny,Sophia Labriny and Andrew Daniel. He will be missed by all of his friends and family.He will be buried with full Military Honors at Arlington National Cemetery.Memorial Services will be held at Ft. Myer Chapel on January 10. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the National Alzheimer’s Foundation or to the U.S. Veterans’ Association. BUCKTROUT of Williamsburg, VA will be handling the arrangements.
