LYRIC AT THE BIRCH IN DIRE NEED OF DONATIONS Lyric Opera at the Birch North
Park Theatre may be forced to call it quits unless enough donations are raised within the next 90 days to keeps the music organization afloat. The Lyric has a challenge grant
that would secure its future, if met, but so far money raised is far short of the goal. Lyric officials say the cash crisis is
a result of low ticket sales and dona- tions in this slow economy, as well as many discounted tickets being sold. A full-price ticket only covers
about half the cost of producing a show with full orchestra, chorus and young artists, many of whom participate in a training program. Those interested in making a
donation can visit the Lyric at the Birch’s website,
www.lyricoper-
asandiego.com. The Birch North Park Theatre is located at 2891 University Ave.u
