Frankie Morello

Phillip Lim with Ornate Excess and Lounge Slipper

Lounge Slipper Mens fashion, and general attitudes to

fashion, evolves at a slower pace than within the womenswear sector, but subtle shifts can be noted with the advent of a new season. A move towards dressing up, embracing chinos over the ubiquitous blue jean, signifies a new breed of man, preoccupied with making an effort. Dressed up, yet retaining a laid-back, casual vibe, this new aesthetic promotes Dandy Workwear, a paradox in terms. Original protagonists, including George ‘Beau’ Brummell and Oscar Wilde, placed importance on physical appearance, set new standards and defined a new generation of mens attire. Their contemporaries, however, seek only to

reappropriate luxury for the everyday. No longer solely reserved for the plush carpets of sprawling country piles, the humble lounge slipper is rendered appropriate for city wear.

A minimal leather or wooden heel updates the style for outdoor wear, brushed, buffed and polished finishes feature on classic slipper shapes, lasted with a loping, rounded toe and cut away tongue. Regal monogrammed embroidery motifs, in delicate gold threads, add authoritative air Frankie Morello’s indigo slip-ons, whilst Phillip Lim’s offerings are resplendent with fierce silver studs. If dandies dressed for an audience, the

modern man places emphasis on creating a persona of well to do. A rich color palette, encompassing pewter, black coffee and gold, communicates notes of luxury, corresponds with opulent fabrications. Subtle detailing, including leather ribbons and tone on tone patterning usher in a new take on always elegant dandyism.

Studded Lounge Slipper A rich burgundy or oxblood shade communicates a sense of refined luxury; add aggressive silver studs to imbue the style with unexpected attitude. Concentrated placement on the vamp renders the style appropriate for everyday wear.

Soft Moccasin Hybrid The conventional shape of a moccasin is combined with deck shoe details, to create a contemporary update of a masculine classic. Render in unexpected fabric combinations to further emphasize the disparity, complete with dark slate shades.

Tapestry Slip-on An all-over tapestry print represents the ultimate take on luxe Dandyism, especially when executed in gold threads. Applied across the entire upper, a decadent aesthetic prevails; recalling the classic origins of the style. Limit placement for a more conservative outcome.
