The Black-Legged Tick, or Deer Tick, is the primary tick associ- ated with infecting humans with Lyme disease and could be the reason be- hind those unexplained symptoms. The earlier Lyme disease is diag- nosed and treated, the more success- ful treatment can be and less likely that someone with the disease will develop serious complications, such as meningitis or arthritis. Diagnosing Lyme disease can be diffi cult consid- ering not everyone will experience all symptoms and the symptoms that do occur can take effect months or sometimes years after the initial bite. Patients should ask their physicians if they are familiar with this laboratory, as many other labs may not be as reli- able or as knowledgeable about this disease.
