Dr. James O. Davis (right) congratulates Paul and Carmelita Walker during a special presentation at the Church of God General Assembly in Orlando.
Walker’s Legacy Aimed at Multiplying the Church
ORLANDO, Fla. —Former Church of God General Overseer Paul L. Walker was honored at the 73rd General Assembly with the establishment of the Paul L. Walker Leadership Legacy, a recognition that promises to have a significant impact on future gen- erations of pastors.
Dr. Walker and his wife,
Carmelita, were surprised on stage with the presentation. James O. Davis, founder of Cutting Edge International and cofounder of the Billion Souls Network, made the presentation just prior to the morning session of the General Council on July 28. According to Davis, Walker is “in a long line of prestigious men who cast vision beyond their life span.” In speaking of Paul and Car- melita Walker, Davis told the Gen- eral Council, “They [the Walkers] are great people who don’t know they’re great. They just want to do great things.”
Davis told Walker, “You are a leader’s leader, and a preacher’s preacher. We want to honor you
for all that you have done and all that you are going to do in raising up the next generation of pastors and preachers.”
Posted on the screen during the presentation was this procla- mation: “On behalf of the Church of God worldwide and the global Church, we commence the Dr. Paul L. Walker Leadership Legacy to equip 5 million pastors.” Davis explained the presenta- tion is threefold: (1) recognition— to honor Dr. Paul L. Walker at the 73rd General Assembly, bringing focus to who he is and the transfer- ence of what God has given him to the next generation; (2) resources—to gather all the sermons of Walker through books, articles, and videotapes of the great wisdom lessons he has learned; and (3) release— materials will be perpetuated by being made available on two
Internet sites:
www.billion.tv and on a site using Walker’s name. His resources will be made available to pastors and Christians everywhere to help double the size of the Church worldwide.
“In the global Church there are more than 1 billion Christians—4 percent in North America and 96 percent around the globe,” Davis stated. “There are also more than 5 million pastors in the global Church. In the Billion Soul Net- work, more than 400,000 churches
from 1,000 denominations and organizations are synergizing efforts together to double the size of the Church to finish the Great Commission in this century.” “I have never known the
meaning of flabbergasted until just now,” Walker stated as he addressed the General Council following the presentation. “I am grateful to God for the opportu- nity to work in partnership with you and our brothers and sisters around the world.”
