TELLING THE STORIES OF MISSIONARY HEROES
CLEVELAND, Tenn.—Bill George, coordinator of education and publications for Church of God World Missions, asks:
How is it possible in a single volume to tell the story of a missions movement that embraces the span of 100 years, has worked in 180 countries and geographic entities outside the United States, has records of the appointment of well over 5,200 missionaries and national leaders, and has recruited into membership in the Church of God some 6 million members?
The answer is in the 565 pages of Dr. George’s new book, Until All Have Heard: The Centennial History of Church of God World Missions. The one-volume history begins with a 100-year survey, then moves into a regional approach to tell the story of the denomination’s
beginning and development in each area of the world. The book’s preparation has been a two-year project for George, who built his research on Charles Conn’s 1959 history, Where the Saints Have Trod; subsequent research directed by former administrative assistant Christopher Moree; and his own and staff investigations. “This has been a labor of love for me, since I have long been associated with world missions,
and a great many of the people whose stories are told have been my friends during the past half-century,” George said. Until All Have Heard is available for $22.99 by calling Church of God World Missions: 800-345-7492.
