BuyLo booms inWestmeath


Irish-owned franchise operation BuyLo has opened a third store inMullingar, CoWestmeath, which recorded record sales during its first fewdays of trading. The new 11,000 sq ft low-cost superstore is located at the


site of the existingWestmeathMotors, on the old Dublin Road, and represents a €1minvestment by local businessmen Noel andRaymond McIntyre. TheMcIntyre familyhas beeninthemotor-trade business


for over 45 years and felt the timing was right to add to existing business interests by introducing theBuyLo concept to Mullingar. Brought into Ireland by the Barry Group, an Irish wholesale and distribution company, BuyLo offers a unique concept in discount retailing, offeringwell-knownbrands of food and non-food items at discounted prices. The other BuyLo stores are in Ashbourne,Co Meath and


Tralee,CoKerry and there are plans to opena further sixnew stores by the end of 2010.

A triple Great Taste winner


Horgan’s Delicatessen Supplies of Mitchelstownhaswon the Great Taste Awards Gold 2010 Two Star for its Certified IrishAngusPastrami andHoneyBakedHamon the bone, while its Certified Irish Angus Spiced Beef has been awarded a One Star. Organised by the Guild of Fine Food in the UK, the


GreatTaste Awards attracted a record number of entries this year. In total, 6,021 food and drink products were blind tasted, tested and discussed during two months of intense judging by 350 judges. “Being the third generation of a butchering family,


which was founded by my grandfather inMitchelstown, Co Cork in 1921, the Horgan family name has become synonymous with premium quality meats,” saidMichael Horgan, managing director, Horgan’s Delicatessen Supplies.


Strata 3 expands in Munster


Soon to open a Cork office, Irish web company Strata3 has won contracts worth more than €150,000 in Munster for web develop- ment, design and support from both existing and new customers. Strata3 continues its long-standing relationship with Bord Gáis


Corporate and Networks in Cork and recently delivered a new online solution,which involved extensive usability testing and end- user analysis as the initial phase. The highly used Registered Gas Installers (RGI) Database is a core feature of the site. Other recent projects secured by Strata3 and in development


include the new site for Cork-headquartered Munster Joinery, which takes in Baskil Windows and Munster Joinery (UK). Strata3’s Munster portfolio also features Cork-based outsourcing company Abtran, and the web agency is about to launch a new site for Fitzgibbon O’Riordan Solicitors in Limerick.


Boylesports links up with Realex


Realex Payments has signed a deal with Boylesports, providing payment processing across a variety of channels, products, currencies, regions and card types. CEO and founder of Realex Payments Colm Lyon said it was


an example of a collaborative approach in the gaming sector:“The gaming sector has experienced considerable growth over the past decade and as a result operators now seek a partnership approach when implementing a payments solution.”
