known, now epitomise the heroism of young men fighting for their country. And the memory of the whole campaign is kept alive by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, based at RAF Coningsby. The BBMF keeps vintage aircraft – including Spitfires, Hurricanes and a Lancaster bomber – in display condition and are seen at airshows and fly-pasts.

With over 46,000 active personnel, the Royal Air Force is the largest air force in the European Union, the second largest in NATO and the fifth largest in the world.
The RAF Ad Astra, which Christopher Ward has created for today’s RAF personnel has an ETA 251.272 calibre quartz movement, one of the most accurate chronograph movements available. The watch’s functionality echoes the traits of the modern RAF – agile, adaptable and capable.
The multi-functional chronograph features a date window, convex sapphire crystal glass with anti- reflective coating, water resistance to 10atm, a tachymeter bezel and engraved back plate.
