Obituaries Fred Webbere died April 1. He was


90. Webbere began his career in the casting industry in 1941 at Gen- eral Motors Research Labs as a junior metallurgist. For the next 39 years, he worked as a metallurgist for the company, serving as assistant head of the metallurgical department at the time of his retirement. A member of AFS since 1955, Webbere served as chairman of the Gray Iron Divi- sion and was a member of the Gray Iron Research Committee. In 1974, he received the Whiting Gold Medal for his innovative research and effective technology transfer.

died June 1. He was 68. Shade was an engineer for General Motors at its Defiance, Ohio, metalcasting facility from 1962-2004. He was a longtime member of the American Foundry Society (AFS).


David Greek, Cincinnati, died June


7. He was 76. Greek became president of metalcasting supply company Hill & Griffith Co., Cincinnati, in 1965 and took on the additional role of general manager in 1971. He remained with the company until the time of his death.
