His session will explore available technologies in renewable energy, composting, recycling and biomass conversion and examine the effect that attitudes and investment might play in determining its future success.

On day three (16 September), Norman Fulton, sales director at KMH Systems investigates techniques for separating municipal solid waste into fractions for use in anaerobic and refuse derived fuels.

Highlights of the Business Seminar include the sessions on days two and three that will focus on construction and retail waste respectively. In the theatre’s first session on day two (15 September) Dr Chindarat Taylor, director of Pathway to Zero Waste, will investigate the true cost of construction and demolition waste, examining how we can reduce the amount sent to landfill by treating waste as a resource and exploring ways in which materials can be reused or recycled.

Following this Rainer Zimmann, resources & waste management, Arup outlines how sustainable resource and waste management best practice can be applied to the construction industry. David Pugh, senior consultant at AMEC Entec rounds off the day with a look at the logistical benefits of in-cab technology and how this might reduce the volume of waste ending up in landfill.
