SpringWatch Presenter says ‘Walk for Wildlife’!
'WildWalk' is part of Secret World's fundraising initiative 'Challenge24' which aims to highlight the 24hour round the clock care it provides to injured and orphaned wildlife. This your chance to get out into the great outdoors this summer by organising a nature-spotting sponsored WildWalk between July and September 2010. To make your walk even more enjoyable, whether out in the counryside or in a local park, we'll send you a list of 24 animals or signs of animals to look out for; maybe you could all have a picnic or stop for a smashing pub lunch too! Top wildlife and nature photographer and sparky SpringWatch presenter, Chris Packham is urging people to get their walking shoes on this summer in a bid to help local wildlife in need.

Chris, who is a long-time patron of Secret World Wildlife Rescue, is asking as many people as possible to take part in the charity’s WildWalk in a bid to get people into the great outdoors and to raise essential funds for Secret World’s 24-hour rescue service.
Chris Packham says:
I support Secret World’s work wholeheartedly.” Chris, who fears that people are learning about wildlife through their televisions rather than going out to see it themselves believes that everyone, but children in particular need to be out in nature more. “I go out all the time and I never see groups of kids building camps, getting up to good or even no good. They just aren't out there. We need to get them back into contact with the country- side.” He goes on to say: “Children need to feel a tadpole tickling the palm of their hand, or pull back a bramble to see a hedge sparrow nest. I can still remember seeing my first hedge sparrow nest. It was almost a life changing moment. I stood there in wrapped awe at these amazing little blue eggs, barely able to believe a bird was able to make them.
I am interested in taking part in ‘Challenge24 - WildWalk’. Please send me a Challenge24 ideas sheet and FREE fundraising pack.
