Broken Paddle
#20
With resources provided by the forest and a few modern conveniences from your repair kit, a broken paddle is easily mended. If you have a hollow- shafted paddle, whittle a dowel to insert into the broken ends and reinforce with birchbark and duct tape. A solid shaft can be lashed together with a tree limb or two. Since you brought a spare paddle, you won’t really even need to worry about fixing a broken one. Right?

Moose Attack According to Wikipedia, in
terms of raw numbers, moose attack more people than bears and wolves combined, but usually with only minor consequences. Should a moose attack, the authors of
Survivaltopics.com say to try these options:
• Make a run for it.
• Get behind a large tree and play a 720- kilogram game of ring around the rosy keeping yourself opposite the moose.
• Adopt a fetal position and protect your head. Play dead and don’t fight back. “Generally the moose will stomp and kick at you,” says
Survivaltopics.com. Minor consequences, my (bruised) ass.
