BY WHITEWATER WEST Following the success of its “looping” waterslides, WhiteWater West is now offering a new twin design that doubles capacity. The duelling AquaLoop set-up pits one rider against another in a head-to-head speed challenge, delivering excitement for riders and offering entertainment for spectators below. Starting from a single tower, riders stand inside the launch capsules and await the countdown. The floor drops and riders plunge 45ft (17- metres) down, accelerating to speeds of nearly 38 mph (60km/h), hurtling up and over the near-vertical loop as more than 2.4G of force press their bodies against the flume before they splash into the runout. The first duelling AquaLoops will appear at Wet ‘n’ Wild Water World on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, a double installation (four slides in total).
