ParkWord July 2010
As you shouldn't need me telling you, Asia is one of the most exciting parts of the world right now for new theme parks and attractions. In Malaysia, where Asian Attractions Expo takes place this month in Kuala Lumpur, some exciting things are planned in the years to come as big brands pile into special economic zone of Iskandar. For an overview of what one of the country's major players is already doing, read our interview with cover star Dato Richard Koh starting on page 34.
Elsewhere we have an exclusive preview of the Middle East's newest waterpark. Built by the Polo Amusement group from India, Ice Land is part of the WOW RAK resort in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. In the UAE, as in Asia, the industry in still in its relative infancy, and this was highlighted as I travelled to WOW RAK from Dubai with Polo's head of human resources, Mansi Chawla Saada. At the side of the road we passed a sign for another waterpark, Dreamland Aqua Park in Umm Al- Quwain. I asked Mansi if she knew much about it: “Oh yes, that's quite an old park, it's about eight or nine-year-old.”
