EDITOR’S NOTE
It’s good to see that everything is about energy efficiency at the moment – from showers and lamps to ventilation and heating, everything we read is about how to maximise savings. I’m sure that you have also noticed a change in your customers in that they are all
becoming energy savvy and looking for the best products on the market to reduce the use of energy and meet numerous regulations which have become commonplace over the last couple of years. I suspect that you are beginning to get a bit fed up of it all, but sadly I’m afraid that there
is no getting away from it. As more legislation continues to come out of the new Parliament, the manufacturers are
taking advantage and launching more new products into the market to meet it. Some might say this is a good thing but I have also heard comments which suggest that it is all a bit confusing. While any form of energy savings are good, the fact that it takes the potential onset of an
energy crisis to make us take notice, does not make us quite as savvy as we seem to think we are. Some people would argue that the technology has always been around but that it takes a crisis to actually focus the mind into using it, while some will argue that the new technology is a result of research and development to find an answer to the problem. Whatever the reason, the fact remains that we need to take
advantage of the technology on offer and you are at the frontline in promoting it. So while you may be sick to death of hearing the phrase
‘energy efficiency’, think of it as a challenge. There is a lot of money to be made from these types of products because at some point in the near future everyone will need them. Just make sure that you are one of the industry leaders stocking the right products and able to take advantage of this trend.
