Product Finder New from MK Electric
MK Electric has developed the Sentry range of skeleton units to bring 21st century safety standards and design to social housing. Skeleton boards are spine backplate assemblies that fit within a Mantel or Clifton type enclosure – essentially a kind of metal utilities cupboard – that may also contain the meter. These are particularly prevalent in social housing which is now one of the main areas of
activity under the Government’s Decent Homes Initiative, which aims to improve social housing so that 95% is decent by the end of 2010. The Sentry Skeleton range counters all the problems associated with skeleton boards, which are rarely used in new-build and only installed as part of refurbishment programmes, to offer a modern and easily installed unit that meets the highest safety regulations.
The range complies with the IEE Wiring Regulations 17th Edition and has several features that
improve ease of installation. The DIN rail is easily removable, as this improves first fix while backed out and captive combi-head screws make for a quicker and easier installation.

Metal Halide lighting specialist, Venture Lighting Europe, has launched the Ceramic Master-PLUS range. Using the latest developments in slip cast, single piece, arc tube technology, these robust ceramic lamps provide an unbeatable combination in terms of both performance and reliability. Consuming less energy than their halogen equivalents
and reduced heat emissions, the ceramic lamps deliver up to 100 lumens per watt to provide a clean and even white light. The excellent colour rendering qualities of
Venture’s Ceramic Master-PLUS makes them perfect for interior applications where the light can enhance the colour, features and textures on display. Venture’s Master-PLUS now offers a 20W lamp option and provides an increased lamp life of up to 18,000 hours, significantly reducing maintenance costs. Venture has also introduced, as part of the range, an E27 elliptical lamp option.

Halers highlight the
EvoLED Halers Lighting has launched the Halers EvoLED, an exceptionally high- powered LED luminaire, comprising high performance qualities that mean it’s 90% more efficient than the traditional halogen lamp option, whilst delivering the same light output properties. Specifically designed to last 30 times longer than the standard halogen lamp, due to an innovative heat management system, the EvoLED dramatically reduces both maintenance time and costs. Due to Halers patented design EvoLED’s are also suitable for fire rated ceilings of 30, 60 and 90 minutes.
The Evo LED offers a 34 degree beam angle with virtually no loss of light and will typically only need to be changed once every twenty years. A reduced glare with diffusion lens mechanism is also included as standard. The EvoLED’s beautifully finished exterior together with the natural white or warm white light output provides sleek and contemporary aesthetics. To further bolster performance credentials, the EvoLED has an IP rating of 65, ensuring liquid and other foreign bodies do not damage the luminaire’s integrity.

New PowerLens technology
Megaman has announced the launch of its unique PowerLens technology, which provides a higher luminous intensity that fulfils the EuP requirements of directional lamps and that is now being offered as part of its reflector range. Offering excellent lighting effects combined with a light-optimising design, the Megaman CFL reflectors can now offer energy savings of up to 78%, making them the most effective eco-replacements for traditional halogen and incandescent lamps. With EuP Directives now stating a directional lamp has to deliver at least 80% of light output within the light cone with an angle less than 120 degrees, PowerLens has made a significant improvement in elevating the luminous intensity and narrowing the beam angle, thus providing a more focused light cone for highlighting features and décor. As an example, Megaman’s GU10 11W reflector when powered with PowerLens increases luminous intensity by 13.6% with the beam angle reduced from 119 degrees to 90 degrees.
Ideal for a wide range of applications where an intense light is required, such as shops, restaurants, museums and galleries, PowerLens is available in a wide range of Megaman’s lamps including GU10, E27 and E14 reflectors.
