screening many genomic regions at once, creating a bottleneck in the CNV analysis workflow.

The nCounter® Custom Copy Number Variation

Assays will eliminate this bottleneck by enabling re- searchers to perform highly multiplexed, direct digital detection and counting of CNVs in a single reaction. During the early access period, NanoString will offer CodeSets for targeting up to 200 genomic loci in a single reaction without the need for amplification or technical replicates. http://www.nanostring.com

N

ational Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: NSM) introduced the Industry’s fastest 12-bit analog-

to-digital converter (ADC). At 3.6 Giga-samples per second (GSPS), the ADC12D1800 is 3.6 times faster than any other available 12-bit device. The ADC’s dynamic performance of -147 dBm/Hz noise floor, 52 dB noise power ratio (NPR) and -61 dBFS inter- modulation distortion (IMD) enables a new generati- on of software-defined radio (SDR) architectures and applications.

In addition to the ADC12D1800, National introdu- ced two other members of its ultra high-speed ADC family: the ADC12D1600 with sampling speed up to 3.2 GSPS and the ADC12D1000 with performance up to 2.0 GSPS. All three PowerWise®

wideband SDRs including radar, communications, multi-channel set-top box (STB), signal intelligence, and light detecting and ranging (LIDAR) applications.

Furthermore, National Semiconductor introduced the solar industry’s first in-panel SolarMagic™ chipset, marking the advent of a new category of solar systems: “smart panels.”

ontinuing to deliver technical innovation with a Responsible Lighting brand standard, WAC

Lighting exhibited an Organic LED Bath Bar Lighting Fixture prototype featuring Transparent OLED panels from NOVALED AG, Germany, at the 2010 LightFair International. WAC Lighting is a leading manufac- turer and designer of track, recessed, undercabinet, monorail and decorative lighting.

NSM reported sales of $398.5 million and net in- come of $79.2 million, or 33 cents per diluted share, for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2010, which ended May 30, 2010. National’s fourth quarter sales were 10% higher than the third quarter of fiscal 2010, and 42% higher than the $281 million reported in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2009. Increased sales of National’s analog and power management products to the personal mobile device and industrial markets boosted revenues in the fourth quarter. http://bit.ly/ADC12D1X00DemoVideo http://www.national.com/pf/DC/ADC12D1800.html http://www.national.com/pf/DC/ADC12D1600.html http://www.national.com/pf/DC/ADC12D1000.html
