The Gwinnett Chapter of WCR was awarded the Gold Chapter of Excellence Award for 2009 at the 2010 NAR Midyear Meeting in Washington, D.C. The chapter would like to thank their REALTOR®

EAST METRO BOARD The East Metro Board's Community Service


Committee donated $500 to both the Newton County Habitat for Humanity and Rockdale


BELOW: Delores and Victor Simington participated in the dedica- tion ceremony where they were presented with the keys to their new home. Delores and Victor have been renters their whole lives and this house will be the first home they can really call their own.


County Habitat for Humanity from the proceeds of the Annual Bowling Tournament held in


February. The Community Service Committee will also choose one elementary school in Rockdale and Newton Counties to donate $250 to at the


beginning of the 2010 school year. The committee is also asking members to bring school supplies to the August general membership meeting


which they will divide between the two schools. EMBOR also held their Annual Awards


Ceremony where Tony Wilson was named REALTOR®


of the Year and Jason Bigham was named Affiliate of the Year.


Other award recipients included: LaTrina Clark and Jason Bigham both won Spirit Awards;


Jeremy Shearer was awarded the Humanitarian Award;


and Nancy Johnson was honored with the Pioneer Award.

WEST GEORGIA BOARD


On Friday, April 23, at Lithia Springs High School, more than 30 members of the West Georgia Board supported the American Cancer Society’s Douglas County Relay For Life by hosting a team. Members from Century 21 Bryant Realty, Co-Broker.Net Real Estate, JG World Properties, Keller Williams Realty, Pru- dential Georgia Realty, RE/MAX Legacy and affiliate, Morris Hardwick Schneider championed the cause. Attendees enjoyed listening to survivors’ testimony, live local music, great neigh- borhood food and most of all a united community. The Douglas County Relay For Life raised more than $131,000 dollars.

GEORGIA RLI The Georgia Chapter of the REALTORS® Land Institute recently


held an educational and networking event at Tall Timbers Research Station and Land Conservancy on the shores of Lake Lamonia in Leon County, Fla. The program for the chapter consisted of a series of lectures and PowerPoints on conservation easements, Georgia landowner incentive programs, regional water planning, focus on the Flint River (River Keepers) and wetland mitigation banks. Tall Timbers was established in 1958 as a research station. Its


mission is to foster exemplary land stewardship through, research, conservation and education. The Tall Timbers Land Conservancy is the largest regional land trust holding conservation easements in Florida and Georgia.
