EASTENDERS Camera used PDW-700, HSC-300 Production company BBC Drama Location shooting on the BBC soap is to switch to the tapeless PDW-700 XDCAM HD422 camcorder, shooting to dual-layer professional discs. The new workflow will operate in combination with Sony’s HSC-300 studio cameras. Both systems camera and camcorders are fitted with CCD sensors, vital to minimising the time it takes to grade and finish programmes.

FAT FAMILIES Camera used PMW-EX3, PMW-EX1, HVR-Z1E Production company Outline Productions This series from Outline Productions for Sky1 and Sky 1 HD was executive produced by Outline’s Laura Mansfield and uses a combination of Sony XDCAM camcorders recording to SxS Pro memory cards and HDV format cameras to document the efforts of straight-talking fat-loss expert Steve Miller to change the habits of Britain’s fattest families. The series is currently in production on series two, due out in January. Revisit show Fat Families: Second Helpingis currently airing.

This camcorder, shooting at HD quality to SxS Pro memory cards, allows rapid transfer of rushes to external hard drives as well as flexible lens options. Talkback also used the PMW-EX1 for single camera shooting by APs and producer/directors.
