LUNA PARK NEWERA FORCONEYISLAND
The new Luna Park at Coney Island opened its gates on May 29, with thousands of local residents and tourists alike lining up to be among the first to attend New York City's first new amusement park in more than four decades. With 19 new rides by Zamperla,
Luna Park's opening marks the rebirth of the famed Brooklyn destination lovingly known as “America's Playground.” Luna Park is a project of Central
Amusement International (CAI), which has been awarded a 10-year deal to operate the park by New York City Economic Development Corporation. CAI built the 3.16- acre Luna Park in just over three months at a cost of more than $15 million (€12.5m), with support from the City of New York, local residents, community organisations and Coney Island fans. A full profile will feature in the next issue of Park World.
