Mr. Allan H. Dobrin

A

llan H. Dobrin is the executive vice chancellor and chief operating officer of The City University of New York.

Since joining CUNY in 2001, Dobrin has implemented key initiatives. He created the CUNY Task Force on Sustainability to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions; CUNY FIRST, a five-year, $250-million project that is streamlining information systems; and the CUNY Productivity Initiative, which saved more than $50 million in four years.

Dobrin’s career in public service spans more than 25 years. From 1998-2001, he was commissioner of the New York City Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications and chief information officer for the City of New York. He has also held key positions in the Board of Education and at Bellevue Hospital.

Dobrin, a graduate of Queens College with doctoral studies in political science at The City University of New York Graduate School, also has been an adjunct professor at the Graduate Department of Public Administration at Baruch College.
