How To Apply. Many

dermatologists advise even darker-toned skins to use an SPF 15 in sunny weather and fair skins an SPF 30. They also say we should all cover up in strong sunlight. • You’ll use a product more often if it feels and smells good. I like Nivea Sun Light Feeling Sun Lotion SPF 30, £12.97, because it doesn’t feel too greasy. Vichy Capital Soleil Fresh Cream Face,

SPF 30, £15.50, performs

like a top-notch moisturiser as well as a sunscreen. • You need about two teaspoonfuls of cream if you’re covering your head, arms and neck, and two tablespoonfuls for your body (if you’re wearing a swimming costume). • Try to apply cream 15–30 minutes before going out in the sun, reapplying soon after for even coverage. And remember, sunscreen has its limits; most will rub off and wear off. Reapply every two hours— more often if you’re sweating a lot—and always immediately after swimming.

BULLET- PROOF TIPS

The shape of your used lipstick reveals how well you’re applying it. Nearly flat: you’re using too

much pressure, especially on your

lower lip— this will make it harder to define your top lip. Hold it at more of an angle.

A sharp slope: you’re

holding it too vertically. In

time the steep angle will make it tricky to colour the bottom lip evenly.

A slightly rounded pyramid: you’re shaping up

nicely, with the angle and pressure just right.

Tangle Teezer, £9.99 (tangleteezer.

com). This brush with a difference was created by former top colourist Shaun P. Originally pitched on Dragons’ Den (where it was turned down), it’s catching on fast in the hairdressing industry and developing a cult following. It may look more like a brush you’d use to groom horses, but its

secret is the configuration of its teeth—they detangle and reduce breakage. Particularly good for long or curly hair.

Emma Hardie amazing face Natural Lift Moringa Cleansing Balm, £30 from spacenk.co.uk. A friend

of mine thinks this aromatic balm is such a pleasure to use that she’s turned it into a beauty ritual: she puts five minutes aside every morning and evening to massage it in. I tried it too and, once removed with a muslin cloth, found my skin not only cleansed, but also gently exfoliated.

Beauty Tip “If you want to talk to your hairdresser, do so in the mirror,” says top hair colourist, Daniel Galvin.

“Don’t suddenly twist round—it’s maddening for us, and if we’re holding something sharp, potentially hazardous for you!” Page 1  |  Page 2  |  Page 3  |  Page 4  |  Page 5  |  Page 6  |  Page 7  |  Page 8  |  Page 9  |  Page 10  |  Page 11  |  Page 12  |  Page 13  |  Page 14  |  Page 15  |  Page 16  |  Page 17  |  Page 18  |  Page 19  |  Page 20  |  Page 21  |  Page 22  |  Page 23  |  Page 24
