Birmingham Metropolitan College was officially opened on the 1st of September 2009. The new college has been created by the merger
of Matthew Boulton and Sutton Coldfield Colleges, two of the West Midlands most successful providers for further and higher education,
to offer outstanding learning opportunities for young people, adults and employers. As a result of this very successful merger new
challenges have emerged. Delia Cannings Director of Business Development has embraced the opportunities presented by strengthening
the Vocational Science position and building her team to include a sales and promotion element. To this end MET training, which is the
business development arm of the College, have a team of specialist advisors and business development managers ready, willing and

An Independent authoritative organisation specifically concerned with the Window Cleaning Industry. The FWC, alongside the British
Cleaning Council and the CSSA, regularly participate as members of the HSE Cleaning Industry Liaison Forum… co-ordinated by the
Health & Safety Executive. In 2008 the federation launched its IOSH accredited “Cleaning Windows Safely” training course, written by
window cleaners for window cleaners, in 2009 produced a new training DVD “Safe use of portable ladders and waterfed pole systems”

Merton College merges with South Thames. One of the sector’s leading training providers, Merton College, has completed its merger with South
Thames College. The new institution is keeping the name ‘South Thames College’ and the Merton site will remain fully functioning as its Merton
Campus. Aside from the change of name, it is very much ‘business as usual’ with Mary Schramm remaining in charge of the College’s training
provision for the cleaning and facilities industry. The College is a leading training centre for the cleaning and facilities sector with many years
experience delivering NVQ and BICSc courses to businesses of all sizes. It has an enviable reputation, training the UK’s gold medal-winning Cleaning
team at Euroskills 2008 and currently preparing the UK’s competitors for the next Euroskills competition in Lisbon later this year. The College provides
