Use a cold pack or heating pad on your perineum (the area between the vagina and anus in women, and the scrotum and anus in men). Or, take a warm sitz bath.


Get support from family and friends.


Let those close to you know how they can help. Also, ask your doctor about IC support groups in your area, or go online to www.ichelp.org.


Take sex slowly.


Talk to your doctor about using lubricants or taking pain relievers. And talk with your partner about ways to make sex more comfortable.
