Side Effects and Treatment

Sexual

Worried about sex after treatment? You can still have sex if you have enlarged prostate—even if you’ve had surgery to remove all or part of your prostate. But some medicines and procedures can cause side effects, including erection problems. Before deciding on a treatment, ask your doctor:

Is this treatment likely to cause sexual side effects? If so, what are they?

How long after the procedure do they usually last?

Do they usually go away on their own? If not, what can I do to improve them?

Are these sexual side effects ever permanent?

Remember, talk to your doctor about which treatments are more likely to cause sexual side effects—before you pick a procedure.
