First customer
The first 3rd party customer for LTMIL is Livingston Energy
Flight, with a Malpensa-based fleet of three Airbus A321s
and three A330-200s and which had been a logistics cus-
tomer previously, but was flying the aircraft to Frankfurt for
A-checks. By now it is expected that Lufthansa Italia will have
announced long-haul destinations from Milan, using Airbus
A330/A340 widebodies. Overall LTMIL is hoping to gain cus-
tomer contracts for between 40 and 50 jetliners, at a narrow-
body to wide-body ratio of 2:1, from maybe half a dozen
Malpensa-based operators.
With the on-site spares inventory, LRUs, consumables and
expendables in the temperature and humidity-controlled
warehouse are immediately available. Malpensa operators
can have LTMIL and Lufthansa Technik Group handle their
entire maintenance regime through what the company calls
Technical Operations Management (TOM) and even a Total
Material Operations (TMO) service.
At the opening ceremony in the hangar, speeches were
made by August Wilhelm Henningsen, Chairman of Lufthansa
Technik and Giuseppe Bonomi, SEA Milan Airports Chairman
on stage and a Lufthansa Italia Airbus A319 was towed into
the hangar quickly before heading off for another flight
