NBA BLUE DEVILS
NBA FANTASY LEAGUE
2009-10
Despite injuries to some of the most productive NBA Blue Devils (Mike Dunleavy and Elton Brand in particular), the Duke alums
top the charts so far this year in the annual DBP Fantasy League (our own spin on the popular NFL, NBA and MLB fantasy leagues).
Carlos Boozer (pictured) is leading the way for the Blue Devils with 828.50 points and the story so far has been our alum’s con-
sistent output across the board. Eight Blue Devils have hit the 400-point plateau (see scoring rules below), while no other school
has more than six 400-point producers. Mike Dunleavy’s season-debut on November 27th should help the Blue Devils stay atop
the leaderboard as the 2002 All-American has been highly productive when healthy in the Pacers lineup.
Here are the DBP Fantasy League leaders as of Dec. 5 (we add the combined fantasy points for each school’s alumni in the NBA):
4970.10
4699.20
4325.70
4206.20
4146.00
Scoring summary: one point for each point scored, 1.5 point for each rebound, two points for each assist, steal or block, 0.5 points for each 3-pointer
made, and -1.2 points for each turnover. Field-goal percentage is included by subtracting 0.2 points for each field goal attempt and adding 0.5 points for
each field goal made, which would mean you break even by shooting 40% from the field.
QUICK HITTERS
NBA TOP 50 Sporting News released its list of the NBA’s top 50 players based on a poll of over 100
players, coaches, front office execs, and announcers. Three Blue Devils made the list (Boozer, Brand,
Battier), and Duke, UConn and Arizona were the only schools with at least alumni selections.
MIKE D RETURNS After missing 64 games last season and the first 13 games of this season with
knee and hip problems, Mike Dunleavy returned to the court on November 27th. The versatile wing
scored 13 points in only 15 minutes of action in his first game and netted 22 in his second game.
C-BOOZ IS BALLIN’ Carlos Boozer is having a huge season so far, averaging 21.3 PPG, 10.9 RPG,
and 3.5 APG. One of just two NBA players averaging 20+PPG/10+RPG, Boozer is fifth in the league
in efficiency, and was named Western Conference Player of the Week on Dec. 7th.
