DUKE BLUE DEVILS ON CAMPUS & IN THE NEWS
COACH K LAUNCHES HOLIDAY CARD PROGRAM
In early November, Coach K kicked off the 29th annual Duke Holiday
Card program. The cards, designed by six talented youngsters from
the Triangle area, are sold to benefit Children’s Hospital programs.
Said Coach K, “We believe that it gets the holiday spirit going, and
there’s nothing better than sending a card designed by children to chil-
dren.” The program has raised $1 million since it launched in 1981, with
the proceeds benefiting research opportunities to help find new treat-
ments and cures, Camp Kaleidoscope (summer camp for chronically ill
children treated at Duke), and more.
BLUE DEVILS WRAP UP FIRST SEMESTER
After defeating St. John’s at home on Saturday, December 5th, the Blue Devils had a full week off with no
games to focus on final exams. During the week, the team had some practices and workouts with a couple
of off-days as well. After exams wrap up and the majority of Duke students head home for winter break, the
team will spend another week together with a home game against Gardner-Webb and then our third game of
the season in Madison Square Garden (this one against Gonzaga). After the Gonzaga game, the team is free
to return home as Coach K and the staff scheduled in a break so our players can spend time with their fami-
lies around Christmas.
