KIMO LEOPOLDO CORBBREY TO WEC
ALIVE AND KICKING
In July Kimo Leopoldo was the
victim of a vicious internet prank. A
member of a prominent MMA forum
reported that the UFC legend had
died due to complications surroun-
ding a heart attack. The report was
picked up by a number of news out-
lets and confirmed by TMZ. Leopoldo’s
friends and family suffered for nearly a
day before Leopoldo’s agent disavowed
Former EliteXC lightweight Muhsin Corbbrey recently
signed a multi-fight deal with the WEC. The boxer and
Muay Thai fighter impressed WEC officials and MMA
fans in his last fight, despite losing, when he fought to
the third round against Nick Diaz despite giving up a
significant weight advantage. The StrikeForce stand out
stepped onto the scale at 169lb for a 160lb contest and
still struggled against Corbbrey before scoring a TKO in
the third round.

Former WEC champions Steve Cantwell and Brian Stann got their oppor-
tunity at fighting in the big show when the UFC absorbed the WEC’s light
heavyweight division. But after losing to Kryzstof Soszynski and Luis
Arthur Cane at UFC 97 they have both been relegated to Fight Night
status, where their rubber match will take place at UFN 19.

an end to their

dispute. Then on
July 31 Dana held
a press confe-
rence to make
a number of
announcements,
one of which was
the return of Ortiz
to the Octagon.
No fight has yet
been announced,
but a match with
Mark Coleman is
heavily rumoured.
