Hospital Consultants – tax relief on pensions goes under the knife!
Until recently individuals could fund pensions from employment income and profits from
self-employment up to an earnings cap of e275,239.
The earnings cap has been reduced to e150,000 for 2009 income, and in their 7th Sept
Tax Briefing, Revenue confirmed that it is the pensionable earnings (from employment)
that use up the earnings cap first.
