Step 5. Once I have a nice even basecoat to my main subject , I then decided
to add a nice coat of Auto Air’s mango orange from their sparkle essences line.
This I thought would play nicely with any light and add to the over all appearance
of the final piece.
Step 6. I them mixed up a purple black mixture, which we began to paint the Alien
cyborg design in a monotone technique.( meaning that the whole design will be
both outlined, and shaded in just one color)
Step 7a or 7b . I then use the
same mixture to begin to layout
the artwork on the hood also.
Step 8. Once all the monotone artwork had been finished, I could then unmask the
paper surrounding the artwork, and with another mixture of brown and black I then
went around the outside edge of the artwork and created a burned singed look.
Step 9. Next I will define the edges of the burn by very lightly , (with an over re-
duced white) outline the edge. Tip: keep the line very thin and allow the paint to
skip , it will give the burned edge more character .
Step 10. Getting back to the Alien on the hood, after I added all my detail with
the purple, black mixture, I then go back and add all the white highlights to really
bring the design to life.
