Step 5
To draw the sun you can use a compass or bottom of a can and outline it us-
ing white caulk.; using my airbrush I completely fill in the sun with white. With a
variety of Createx yellows, oranges and mostly white I proceed to add detail in
the sun, clouds and the sunrays.
Step 6
With white caulk I draw in a broken wooden fence on the land area all the way
a crossed the wall. I could have just as easily done a nice looking fence or a
weathered fence its artist preference here so have fun with it. To make it easy
to keep all the fence pickets the same width I use a two by four as a pattern.
With the fence sketched in as a base color I use Createx white applying it with
my airbrush. As I’m in white already I go ahead and finish off the water at this
point adding waves breaking and also misting in the bottom of the water with
cross hatches to give it more depth. As you can see in this picture I have also
sketched in the palm tress using white caulk.
Step 7
Very carefully I cut in that spot I left bear between the ocean and land with black
and continue on to finish off the palm trees painting the tops to represent sil-
houettes of the palms.
Step 8
To fill in the details on the fence I use the left over paint from painting the water
dashes, keeping in mind to add a wood grain effect with a few knots and holes
here and there. To add shadows to all the fence pickets I use a dark tinted white
and a scrape piece of wood as a shield. Lastly to finish off the fence I’ll use the
sky colors to lightly airbrush some colors into the fence to give it a reflection
from the setting sun.
Step 9
Where coming down the home stretch with this mural with just some
grass to add along the fence and some highlights in the palm trees. The
palm trees and grass I use some white and yellow to represent highlights
from the bright sun gleaming thru. Using blue I highlight the tree trucks
where the sun would be shinning. At this point its artist preference again as
to what wildlife to add to the mural, you could add dolphins, whales, seagulls
I chose to add a lone Pelican.
The last step is to protect the artwork by applying a good satin clear coat.
