It’s Officially Summer
Let’s Go Sailing!
I think it’s safe to say that it is now summer.
We’ve been teased a few times up until now,
but the door then quickly slammed in our face
with rain and cold. Now, with temperatures
consistently over 70° F, we can, with some
confidence, safely leave some of the fleece at
home, put on our overly expensive sunglasses

and blissfully set sail. Ah, paradise.
This truly is a magical time of year. We’ve
just finished with the Van Isle 360 and Whidbey
for Cruising!
Island Race Week, and, like the swallows
returning to Capistrano, it’s time to pack up for

Islands. It’s the natural way of things, nature
taking its course in the Northwest.
We always talk about the sailing
community as if it were a subculture of its
own. Not isolated but independent. In today’s
challenging economy, this independence is
paying dividends. With sailboats being the
perfect hybrid RV, sailors can still enjoy their
summer getaways with a bit less economic
pressure than many other recreational activities.
