With Lynchburg Real Foods, Cundiff has developed a

“pipeline” for these goods. “We can keep the dollars local
and support more development of the resources. The farmers

set the prices, and the store keeps only a nominal percent-
age to cover costs. Everybody wins.” The store is open only
in the Area
during delivery times, which trims energy costs and keeps the

schedule or check the website for more information.) After

Another nice surprise is that Cundiff can show sociol-

Furthermore, Cundiff admires area farmers who practice 540-463-6506

work work for everybody, including Lynchburg’s inner-city
residents with fewer resources. He wants to make it feasible
for those on tight budgets or public assistance such as food
stamps. “I grew up here; I want to live here,” he says. “And I
want to help make it a better place for others to live, too.”
That’s his goal, he says: to create something that’s not
just another natural food outlet. “For me, it’s all about build-
ing community here,” Cundiff says. “And the most founda-
tional component of community is food.”
