Tell us about your company history and your brand/products ? DB Shoes was formed in 1920 by identical twins, Jack and Bill Denton. During the 1970’s, under the stewardship of Jack’s sons, John and Hugh Denton, DB Shoes was at the forefront of moulding technology. DB Shoes was one of the first shoe manufacturers, outside the Clark’s group, to embrace direct Polyurethane (PU) moulding technology. Today, PU injection moulded footwear constitutes the core of all footwear products sold. Over the last 7 years, DB Shoes has concentrated
on developing its wide to extreme width fitting shoe business, under its “easy b” brand and is now one of the most important brands in this market segment. No other company offer such a wide range of EE through to 8E fitting shoes in the UK. Nowadays, “easy b” “the perfect fit for wider feet™”
is the brand of choice for people who require wide (EE fitting) to extremely wide (EEEEEEEE fitting) shoes in the UK. The “easy b” brand is recommended by foot health professionals all over the country.
Which are your best selling lines and why? The “easy b” range of wide fitting shoes is DB’s best selling range. This range has proved extremely popular with the general public, as they are able to find a shoe that fits not only in length, but in width and depth also, thus ensuring they get “the perfect fit for their feet”.
Do you have a brand philosophy? Our philosophy is about ensuring that our customers have the perfect shoe for their feet, in terms of fitting, style and value for money. To that end, the company has invested considerable time and resources into offering shoes in EE, 4E, 6E and 8E fittings. No other brand offers such a choice of wide fitting shoes.
How many people do you employ? Do you have a high turnover of staff, or longer-term employees? The company employs 35 people in the UK, with very little staff turnover. A number of our employees have been with us for over 20 years.
How do you market your lines? The “easy b” range is sold via good independent retailers and mail order companies. Customers are supported by DB’s “in stock” service ensuring that a high stock turn and profitable margin is maintained.
And, the next step? Any plans for the future, new lines, etc? The future is very exciting for DB Shoes. The company continues to develop the “easy b” range of stylish, wide fitting shoes to maintain its position as the leading brand in wider fitting footwear. Recently, DB was the first company to be
recognised by the Healthy Footwear Guide in its efforts of improving the foot health of the nation. The “easy b” brand continues to be recognised by
foot health professionals as the brand of choice for people with wider feet.
