Sound makes major investment
D
espite undeniably tough times in the manufacturing sector, Sound Leisure is bucking the
trend by investing in new machinery for its woodworking and plastic divisions.
The Leeds-based jukebox manufacturer has installed a new woodworking CNC router to work
alongside its original machine, which has been in service for the last two years. In addition, Sound
Leisure has added two extra Vacforming machines and a small CNC into its plastics division.
“ The new machines have been a significant investment for us, however, we see them as an
absolute necessity to move forward,” said Chris Black, Managing Director. “In the very near future
we will be unveiling a new Nostalgia jukebox model which will create additional demand on our
already overworked woodworking division. The original CNC machine made such a huge
improvement to our cabinet build quality and build times so we know that the second machine
will have a significant effect on our build programme.”
Sound Leisure is proud to be seen to be moving forward in such a difficult economic climate.
“The supplier of our new CNC router did confirm that this was their first order received for many
months,” confirmed Alan Black, Chairman.
Rock-Ola appoints European partner
R
ock-Ola has appointed Jukeboxes Unlimited in Cambridgeshire, England, as its official Rock-Ola
Service Centre for parts and repairs in the UK and Europe. Jukeboxes Unlimited was established
in the West Midlands in 1984 by jukebox enthusiast Fred Pentney. Over the years, Pentney built his
company’s reputation as supplier of top-quality restored classic jukeboxes.
A decade later, he expanded his business to include sales of new Rock-Ola jukeboxes and quickly
became the top sales distributor for Rock-Ola in the UK.
In 2006, a new company, Pentney White Limited, purchased Jukeboxes Unlimited and the company opened another
showroom and workshop facility in Eastern England. The transfer of the administrative operations, now overseen by
Managing Director Ted White, was moved to the new site to allow expansion of the servicing and repair department at
the original base. Jukeboxes Unlimited continues to offer both new and restored vintage models for sale. As experts in
the field of restoration and repair, the firm is a natural fit as the expert service hub for Europe.
“With their combined years of experience and passionate dedication to the jukebox business, Jukeboxes Unlimited
owners Fred Pentney with Ted and Caroline White, will have a pivotal role for Rock-Ola as the brand expands through
Europe,” said Rock-Ola CEO Glenn Streeter. “The establishment of a centralized European Parts and Service Center gives
our European dealers and their customers immediate access to service expertise previously available only from our
factory in the US, saving costs.”
