Pots of Plenty
Receiving potted herb plants is an easy way to put a
smile on your Mother figure’s face. Who doesn’t love
the fresh earthy scents of rosemary, oregano and
thyme? A group of herbs perched on a window sill
certainly invites spring herbed recipes and sunny
days, o.k. and some much needed spring showers!
TO DO: Take an average pot and dress it up a bit by
painting it and adding some ribbon or cording. TIP: It
is a good idea is to glaze the inside and out of the pot
after painting, so the herb plants won’t dry out so
quickly. Unfinished terracotta pots soak up the
moisture from the soil, so this added step will save
your gift recipient time and prevent wilted plants
unexpectedly.
Left: A single flowering
bulb can be purchased
in bloom. Note: To
force hyacinth bulbs, 8
weeks of cold storage is
required for proper
blooms.
Right: 6 inch pots with
two coats white latex
paint and acrylic mat
glaze are dressed with
tied lime green cotton
cording. Use standard
potting mix.
