Beethoven (arr. Tognetti) Violin Sonata No. 9 in A, Op. 47 (‘Kreutzer’)
Richard Tognetti violinist and director, returns with a programme in which
familiar works are looked at from refreshingly different angles.
Shostakovich’s Seventh String Quartet becomes an orchestral suite when
swelled to the scale of chamber orchestra, whilst Beethoven's Kreutzer
sonata re-arranged for string orchestra takes on the aspect of a concerto.
Pink Floyd's haunting tribute to a missing friend ‘Shine on you crazy
Diamond’ seems tailor-made for the concert hall and for the traditional-
ists, Haydn's Symphony No. 64 will be performed exactly as the composer
specified.
