Adds Sacha: “This 50/50 split is the
perfect way to deliver both topical
expertise and trade knowledge. We are
currently running around four quality-
focused seminars each week.
We restrict delegate numbers to just eight
per workshop, often with one model
available for two delegate photographers.
The seminars cover a wide variety of
photo-subjects, including social
portraiture, fashion, modern erotic
photography – and of course
camera/lighting techniques.”
The studio’s philosophy on imaging
education is simple and transparent: “We
do not labour theory. We provide our
customers with viable advice and
counsel, based on our own practical
experiences.
Our aim is always to create a stunning
photographic result. If, for example, we
are shooting fashion and we need the
model to have wet skin – we will use
glycerine rather than baby oil. The effect
is much more visually satisfying.”
Fotoakademie has also become a ‘shoo-
in’ for clients seeking innovation from an
agency adept at finding solutions to
serious commercial imaging challenges.
When the leading Gronemeyer
Hospital Group needed to
create photographic records
and imaging collateral around
a brand new operating
technique, Fotoakademie
developed a unique mobile
photo studio which could be
used completely hygienically in
a sterile environment.
